Even though the methodologies, techniques, methods of distribution and for the most part, the primary purpose, have changed over the years, the spreading of propaganda remains the foremost method of getting your idea across to your audience. Somewhat moved on from the days of just superimposing orders over intimidating imagery, alongside its increasing ubiquity propaganda has sold out and made big bucks. It, in some shape or form, now permeates nearly every facet of everyday life as we know it. People have evolved to accept and deal with this and social Darwinism regularly flushes those unable to deal with the constant bombardment of corperate advertising campaigns, 'guerrilla' PR events, fear-mongering sensationalist news broadcasting, regular terrorist threats and overt government statements-of-intent via, mental illsness, suicide and shooting a US senetor in the face type stuff (UNRELATED LOL).

ReplyDeleteThe sort of online propaganda that evolved to actually have the desired effect, as opposed to just pissing people off and making them hate you, your product and your constant-fucking facebook updates forever, started out, much like everything else on the true face of the internet, the forums / the #ch0nZ and those few places that allow free creativity and unmoderated public opinion to flourish. What started out as kids fucking around and trying to get as many people as possible to DDOS / post gay porn on someones front page slowly evolved into the tools and techniques used to sell the activism of the future to possibly the most vacant and detatched generation the world has ever seen (basement dwellers).
